Margaret is a well-known community member and an entrepreneur in First Nations art and crafts. She's been selling since 1972. Initially, she started collecting items from remote communities on the Manitoba border that could be only accessed through bush planes. Eventually, she collected a lot of items that she couldn't move in her apartment and had to open a crafts store.
The overall feedback at our second consultation with Indigenous artists was consistent with our first consultation, even though we had a few new people attending meeting this time.
We had a lively discussion at our first consultation, where artists not only showed interest in our project, but also agreed that it would be beneficial to the community to have a marketplace exclusive to Indigenous Art from around the world.
